Giants, Dragons, and the Bones They Came From

by bam

For most of recorded history, people dug up bones far too large for any animal they knew and had to say something about them. They said giants, dragons, thunder horses, and the remains of a world before the Flood. This course takes those answers seriously as answers: what evidence was on the table, which premises made each conclusion reasonable, and what it actually took to change the verdict. It ends with a ten-foot stone man buried on a farm in New York, and with the harder question of what you would need to see to stop believing something you already want to be true.
